Zero Energy Healthy
Affordable Green Homes
Available in South Jersey
Woodstown, NJ – (July 30) Today, Chapman
Vail of Woodstown, Salem County, New Jersey announces the formation
of Holistic Homes, LLC. Holistic Homes, LLC has been created by
Chapman Vail to develop and market innovative, sustainable, high
energy efficient, healthy, affordable new homes in New Jersey.
Holistic Homes will tap an unmet demand for superior energy efficient
homes constructed in a deliberate manner at an affordable price
to provide an exceptionally healthy indoor environment. The company
will take a whole systems approach to construct each home. Whole
systems approach includes; lot/land use; passive solar orientation
of the home; innovative framing and construction techniques; superior
foam insulation; use of super efficient and air purifying HVAC
systems; low flow water fixtures; incorporation of solar electric
supply systems; high efficiency home appliances; low maintenance
landscape design; interior day lighting design; cradle to cradle
floor plan design; aesthetically consistent architectural design;
recycled and renewable material selections; and elimination of
hazardous off-gassing volatile organic compounds in the interior
of the home. Holistic Homes embraces utilizing energy from the
SUN and orienting the home on the EARTH,
in order to create an attractive, affordable HOME
that is beneficial to the community and maximizes HUMAN
health and comfort.
Holistic Homes seeks to capitalize on the growing Green building
movement in the United States. Once thought of as an exotic way
to construct buildings and perceived to be too costly, recent
spikes in crude oil and natural gas prices in the United States,
as well as, media coverage of Global Warming have created a demand
for new homes that minimize fossil fuel consumption and reduce
gas emissions believed to contribute to Global Warming. Holistic
Homes will construct near zero energy homes which greatly reduce
greenhouse gas emissions through Holistic Homes’ advanced
building practices and utilization of photovoltaic cells for electricity.
A zero energy home (ZEH) is defined as a home that produces nearly
as much as energy as it consumes. Furthermore, Holistic Homes
will provide the occupants with superior indoor air quality for
increased health and comfort while simultaneously ensuring the
affordability of the final product to the home buyer.
Land and lot use in the target market is of major consideration
to Holistic Homes. The State of New Jersey is diligently promoting
Open Space preservation. To further this effort, The State of
New Jersey encourages Smart Growth by developing homes and buildings
in designated Smart Growth areas near town centers and existing
infrastructure. The State of New Jersey provides tax rebates and
incentives to companies and individuals who construct high efficient
sustainable buildings and homes in these areas. Holistic Homes
intends to build only on infill lots in designated Smart Growth
areas to capitalize on the financial incentives available as well
as to capitalize on the marketability of the public utility, community
resources, and transportation benefits that these sites provide.
Holistic Homes' first three homes will be constructed on lots
ideally situated to benefit the new residents with all the best
Woodstown has to offer.
Holistic Homes has contracted with Independence Energy Homes
of Boston, MA to provide architectural, engineering, financial
analysis, marketing materials, and consulting services for the
construction of Holistic Homes’ first three (3) dwellings
located on West Millbrooke Avenue in Woodstown, NJ. Independence
Energy Homes (www.zeroenergy.com) is a market leader in the design
and engineering of zero energy dwellings. Chapman Vail, the principal
owner of Holistic Homes, LLC, is the first professional in the
State of New Jersey to successfully complete the GreenAdvantage®
Environmental Certification for Residential Construction training
and exam. GreenAdvantage® (www.greenadvantage.org) is a third
party non-profit organization dedicated to green building by offering
training and Environmental Certification to individuals who practice
green building as a profession. In addition to Mr. Vail’s
personal certification, each Holistic Home will be certified by
the United States Green Building Council (USBGC) according to
their LEED® for Homes pilot program standard. LEED® is
the USGBC (www.usgbc.org) acronym for Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design. The Holistic Homes, LLC project in Woodstown,
NJ will be the first LEED® certified single family residences
in Southern New Jersey.
Each three bedroom, two and a half bathroom, 2180 square foot
Holistic Home built to the LEED® standard will use approximately
75% less energy, use approximately 50% less water, and have indoor
air quality approximately 99% more pure than an ordinary home.
Holistic Homes is now accepting pre-construction deposits on the
sale of these homes. Models start in the 300's.
